89% DO RECOMMEND UTAT TO THEIR FRIENDS !
Welcome at the airport
90% satisfied. Nearly 40% consider the welcome to be excellent on their arrival.
The dissatisfactions do not come under the welcome itself (although there was a case where the volunteer of the UTAT team was not present at the arrival of the competitor) but more due to shuttle waiting conditions (on the parking lot, under the sun).
For 2018, we will endeavor to obtain authorization from the Marrakech airport authorities to have a volunteer in the terminal and not only outside to allow competitors to wait for their shuttle inside rather than under the sun.
Shuttles
79% satisfied - 21% dissatisfied
The dissatisfaction concerns the lack of punctuality of the shuttles for Oukaïmenden. This is a difficult problem because this lack of punctuality is due to flight arrvial delays; waiting for competitors whose flights are delayed impose waiting for competitors whose flight was on time !
For 2018, we plan to have the shuttles to leave on time regardless potential flight delays, as would be the case with a regular bus service, while providing a service to avoid competitors suffering from a major flight delay to find themselves abandoned at the airport without a solution.
Welcome to Oukaïmenden
89% satisfied
UTAT volunteers welcome competitors to Oukaïmenden to guide them to their tent or CAF room. The dissatisfactions noted concern insufficiently clear information on arrival and, in a few cases of late arrivals, the absence of the welcoming volunteer.
In 2018, the presence of welcoming volunteers and the information system will be improved.
Tent accommodation
80% satisfied and 20% dissatisfied
The dissatisfactions come either from the too small number of sanitary facilities, or from the tents themselves, whose insulation is not sufficient for those people who have not taken enough into account our warnings about the temperatures, close to zero, which can prevail at night on the Oukaïmenden plateau .
In 2018, an effort will be made on the number and cleanliness of toilets.
CAF accomodation
86% satisfied.
The dissatisfactions are linked to common living conditions: occupancy rate of the showers, noise, dormitories, etc. The CAF, although comfortable (beds, mattresses are good), is not a five-star hotel … In 2018, we plan to set up a deposit service to allow competitors not to leave valuable equipment in open dormitories.
Atmosphere in Oukaïmenden
Excellent for 54%, nice for 43% and bad for 4%
The atmosphere is good at Ouka! On the other hand we received several suggestions to create some “more” that will be studied for 2018.
91% satisfied - 9% dissatisfied
The dissatisfactions mainly concern the lack of variety of dishes offered during the four days of the stay. It was a deliberate choice to provide meals corresponding to the appropriate inputs for a sporting activity.
In 2018 we will seek a better balance between variety and nutritional quality.
Race Marking
Excellent: 30% Appropriate: 61% Insufficient: 9%
In 2017 the 105km and the 42km had a common checkpoint (PC2) at which both races arrived in the opposite direction; the marking, in particular made confused by residual traces from previous years, was unnecessarily complex which led to errors for some competitors.
In 2018, the course of 105km evolves and the difficulty encountered in 2017 will naturally disappear.
Security Device - Welcoming on CPs
Excellent: 59% Satisfactory: 33% Unsatisfactory: 7%
It is obviously a strong point!
The welcome, kindness and dedication of volunteers on mountain Check Points is often emphasized.
The critics concern the lack of solid and sometimes liquid food. In 2018, we will insist even more on the fact that the UTAT is a race in semi-autonomy and that the food supplies put in place are (with the exception of the PC6 and PC12) an element of comfort and not as a substitution of the obligation of the competitors to dispose of their food reserve (3000 kcal for the 105km).
Security Device - Medical Service
98% of competitors using the medical service are satisfied.
We have about twenty doctors, many graduate nurses, a team of physiotherapists, chiropodists and our partner “Le coeur de l’évènement” imports each year more than two tons of medical material for mountain PCs.
Would you recommend UTAT to your friends?
Yes for 89%!
One in ten is not satisfied. This may be because our organization had not yet reached a sufficient level of maturity or because the infrastructure we are able to put in place does not correspond to anything that can be found for example in the Alps . It can also happen that a competitor expects to meet the same conditions as for an Ultra Trail in Europe while the UTAT is a dramatically different scenery, an adventure, a fidelity to the trail origins.
In 2018, we will have capitalized more on the returns of 2017 and while keeping the authenticity and simplicity of the UTAT, we aim for more rigor and quality of service.
With regards to the 89% of enthusiasts, they often left us some testimonials, sometimes moving, which are accessible on this site (testimonies 2016, 2017).
